Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, assists the department head or director in the day-to-day operations of a program. Oversees the program support, general office, administrative and secretarial duties with some variety and complexity. Typical duties may include overseeing some aspects of the program, acting as the main liaison to other offices within the University as well as external contacts, maintaining budget records, supervising other support staff and-or students, arranging meetings-itineraries-agendas, typing a variety of material, compiling data and preparing reports, and purchasing office and program supplies and materials.

Additional Department Summary: Under the direction and as a direct report to the Director and Associate Director of the Education Policy Center (EPC), who are, respectively, Lead-Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of DRIVE, and the Regional Competitiveness Director (RCD) (to be hired under DRIVE), this individual’s job responsibilities include: (a) Assisting the Lead PI, CoPI, and RCD in coordinating new and existing resources to the benefit of regional competitiveness; (b) Assisting the Lead PI, CoPI, and RCD in convening public, private, academic, and civic leaders around bottom-up competitiveness; (c) Assisting the Lead PI, CoPI, and RCD in establishing a coordinated line of communication between regional DRIVE growth clusters and EDA that accelerates collaboration and support; (d) Assisting the Lead PI and CoPI in other Education Policy Center work as assigned.

The Administrative Assistant will devote 100.0% calendar year effort (12.00 calendar months) in each year of the project. Items a, b, c, and d assume EDA Round Two funding for DRIVE; should that funding not materialize, the Administrative Assistant will work with the EPC Director, Associate Director, RCD, and other EPC team members on other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent and three (3) years of general office experience; OR Associate's degree and one (1) year of general office experience; OR a Bachelor's degree.

Skills and Knowledge: Great organizational and writing skills. Exceptional skills in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to help organize small events.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a research environment working on grants/contracts and proposal development/post-award management.
